The most popular items to create a winter theme are candles, holly, pinecones, and mistletoe. By combining these items you can give a really nice homely feel to your centerpieces. You can place one or several candles in the centre of a plate charger or table mirror, and then place the holly and pinecones around the base of them.
To give them a really nice finish you can spray the pinecones with fake snow, which is available as a Christmas decoration. Alternatively you can get some branches and use Colorfill Diamond vase filler glued onto the branches. This gives a magical iced appearance to the branches. This is ideal if you are trying to create a winter wonderland theme.
Winter Flowers for Centerpieces
If you want to incorporate some flowers into your centerpieces, then roses, cymbidium orchids and amaryllis are available at this time.
You could also use a poinsettia plant as your centerpiece. These plants are available throughout the winter months and are a particular Christmas favourite. Their upper leaves are red in colour, which gives the appearance of having large red flowers. There are also varieties that are white.
You can place the plant in a decorative container with a ribbon around and this creates a very simple and quick winter themed centerpiece.
