It is worth checking with your venue what type of lighting that they have. Do they have highlighters? Is it possible to dim the lights? How strong are the lights?

Not all venues will have highlighters without getting a specialist lighting technician in. But having the ability to dim the lights will allow you to create a romantic feel with candles, votives or tea lights.

Imagine the difference between eating your meal to gentle candlelight compared to harsh overhead lights. Or worst of all, florescent lights.

Another way to light a venue is by using some of the small lights that you can fix to centerpieces. These provide a nice subtle light at each table and create an intimate atmosphere.
