Why Use Roses for Wedding Centerpieces?
Roses are one of the most versatile flowers to use for your wedding decorations. They are available in almost every color imaginable from white through yellow to red and lilac. The only major color that is not naturally available is blue. But you can buy blue roses that have been created by using a special dye.
DIY Rose Centerpieces
If you are making your rose wedding arrangements yourself, the easiest way is to make them into small posies. These posies are then put into a small vase. You can decorate the outside of the vase if you wish with colored ribbon or organza.
When you are preparing roses, you need to take into account the time that it takes to strip the thorns. You can either do this with a sharp floristry knife or there are specialist rose 'de-thorners' available. An alternative is to order one of the modern rose varieties that do not have thorns.
Where to Get Wedding Roses
You can obtain the roses for making DIY centerpieces from a florist, a wholesaler or direct from the grower. There are a number of direct from the grower websites that are happy to supply brides with their flower requirements. Your roses will arrive by courier, 2 or 3 days before the event.
You need to ensure that there is somebody available to take delivery of them and to cut the stems and put them in water. In the days before the wedding the flowers will be hydrated and the flower heads will appear bigger.
If you don't have the time to prepare your rose wedding centerpieces yourself, leave it to your florist. As well as saving time, this can cut down on the worry about transporting and setting up your arrangements.
