There are various candles that you can use to create DIY centerpieces. These include floating candles, church candles and votive candles.

Floating Candles

Floating candles are an inexpensive way to create your centerpieces. You can either have them in a series of different sized vases or you can put them all in one shallow dish.

Although the candles are quite small they can get very hot so ensure that your containers are suitable. You can buy shallow vases specifically for floating candles. You can add color to your floating candle centerpieces by adding rose petals or flowers to your displays.

Church Candles

Church candles are the large chunky candles that are often seen for sale in household supply shops. These candles will last a long time and also look very elegant.

You can create a simple centerpiece by taking an oasis floral foam ring, decorating it with flowers and foliage and placing it in the center of the table. There will be a small gap in the center, which you can then place your candle into.

Votive Candles

Votive candles are the small candles that can be placed around the outside of your centerpiece arrangement. Many people choose to use either votive candles or tea lights to enhance the appearance of their decorations.

One thing that you should be aware of is that tea lights will only burn for a period of about 3-4 hours. If you want your candles to last longer than this you should choose votive candles. These small candles will last 10 hours or more depending on the make and size. They can make even the simplest wedding decoration look spectacular so you really should consider using them.
