If you're thinking of creating some DIY wedding centerpieces with roses, then you've made a good choice. Roses are one of the most popular flowers to use at weddings. This is on account that they look beautiful and they are available in a wide variety of colors. You can also obtain them at any time of the year, so there is no worries about getting flowers that are in season.
Tips for Making DIY Centerpieces
A simple way to produce rose centerpieces is to choose just a single colored rose and take a bunch and place them in a vase as a centrepiece. Florists use a technique called spiralling the stems that achieves the lovely domed effect that you see on many bouquets and table decorations. If you want to learn this technique you can either purchase a book or there are very good ebooks available such as Create Your Own Wedding Flowers.
If you prefer a more modern look to your decorations then you can choose square vases. Cut the stems of the roses so the flowers are just proud of the top of the vase and they are tightly packed in. You can choose to decorate the outside of the vase with some colored ribbon if you wish. Then as a final touch you can place some votive candles or tea lights around the display.
Where To Get Your Roses
The cheapest place that you can find your roses is from a supermarket such as Wal-Mart, Costco or Tesco. The only problem that you might have is that they can't guarantee the color or quantity of flowers that you require.
Another option is to speak to your local florist, who may be willing to order you some roses that you then make up yourself. She will be able to order the specific color, variety and quality that you require.
There are also an increasing number of online retailers. These are both flower wholesalers and flower growers who sell direct to the public. Many of these are happy to supply brides for their wedding flowers.
When you place an order you will typically need to buy a large quantity of one type of flower, such as red roses. These will then be delivered to you via courier and you just need to cut the stems place them in water and then make them up in to your wedding centrepiece arrangement.
