Calla Lily Centerpieces

Calla centerpieces can look absolutely stunning on your wedding reception tables. This is one of my particular favorite flowers and it is a firm favorite with many brides. Here are some ideas on how to use calla lilies to create beautiful decorations for your reception.

Calla lilies are long sleek flowers that come in a variety of colors. Due to their size they work well in tall arrangements. These can look spectacular in venues such as a wedding tent or marquee. They also can fill a high ceiling room such as a castle. You can place them in long thin vases that are readily available online.

If you prefer to have an arrangement that is less obtrusive you could choose a low arrangement in a globe vase or goldfish bowl. Calla lilies suit this type of centerpiece well because their stems are quite pliable. They can be curved to follow the inside of the vase.

Calla lilies can be purchased online or from your florist. They are available in white, pink, yellow, and burgundy. There is even a variety that is very dark purple, almost black.

When you're planning your calla lily centerpieces you should be aware that different varieties of flower are different sizes. Varieties like Highwood are about a metre (39 inches) long. But there are much smaller varieties that come in at only 12 inches in length. This will affect the look and style of your arrangement and the price will also vary.

It is possible to prepare your calla lily centerpieces yourself by using just a few stems in a vase. You need very little additional decoration apart from some beargrass. But some of the most spectacular arrangements that I have seen have been made by professional florists. They really know how to get the most out of these special flowers and the results can be quite breathtaking.
